Thomas Partey Charged with Multiple Sexual Offences Following Police Investigation

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following a lengthy investigation by the Metropolitan Police in London. The charges relate to incidents involving three different women, all of which are alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international, who recently left Arsenal after his contract expired at the end of June, now faces serious legal proceedings that could have major implications for his career and public image. Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atlético Madrid in a high-profile transfer but parted ways with the club just weeks before these charges were made public.

According to the official police statement, the charges are broken down as follows:

• Two counts of rape involving one woman
• Three counts of rape involving a second woman
• One count of sexual assault involving a third woman

The investigation was initiated in February 2022, after authorities received the first complaint of rape. Since then, detectives have conducted a detailed inquiry before the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) formally authorized the charges.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, emphasized that the wellbeing of the women involved remains a top priority.
