In a moment of triumph mixed with heartfelt emotion, Pedro Neto dedicated Chelsea’s dominant FIFA Club World Cup victory to late Portugal stars Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. The Blues secured a 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium, but for Neto, the trophy meant far more than silverware—it was a tribute to lost friends.

Chelsea delivered a statement performance in the Club World Cup final, dismantling European giants PSG with a 3-0 masterclass to lift the first edition of the newly expanded tournament. The match, held in front of a packed MetLife Stadium crowd, highlighted the Blues’ tactical cohesion and clinical edge.

While the team celebrated their global triumph, Pedro Neto had more personal reasons to cherish the victory.

A Tribute from the Heart

Speaking to the media after the final whistle, Neto made an emotional dedication to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who both tragically passed away in a recent car accident. The loss sent shockwaves through the football world, leaving fans and players across Portugal in mourning.

“I said I would win it for Diogo and Andre,” Neto said, visibly moved. “This win is unbelievable, and the way we came together to finish the tournament like this is something I’ll never forget.”

Emotional Resolve Fuels Final Performance

Prior to the final, Neto revealed that the devastating news had deeply affected him, but also inspired him to push through the emotional pain.

“It’s been really difficult over the last few days,” he shared. “I wanted to win this for them and send a message of love and support to their family. This is for Diogo and Andre.”

Neto’s bond with Jota goes beyond club rivalries—the two were teammates with Portugal and played together during the nation’s UEFA Nations League-winning campaign in June.

A Win for the Team—and for Portugal

While the dedication stood out, Neto also praised Chelsea’s squad for their unity and relentless pursuit of excellence. The former Wolves winger emphasized the importance of chemistry and drive in the team’s success.

“To be here with my mates and win a trophy like this—it’s the best feeling,” he said. “I want more. That’s the mentality here. We’re not done yet.”
