Arsenal have completed the £52m signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea, with Mikel Arteta hailing the winger’s arrival as a major boost for the Gunners’ attacking options.

Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea in a deal worth £52 million, with Mikel Arteta describing the 23-year-old as “exciting and powerful” while highlighting his potential to make an immediate impact at the Emirates.

The England international has signed a five-year contract with the Gunners and will wear the No. 20 shirt for the 2025-26 campaign. The move marks a rare direct transfer between the two London rivals and follows weeks of speculation and mixed reactions from Arsenal supporters.

Madueke, who previously shone for PSV Eindhoven before joining Chelsea in January 2023, will now compete with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard for a place in Arteta’s forward line.

Arteta made no secret of his admiration for the player:

Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality,” he said.
At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well. His arrival will really improve our squad – we’re all thrilled to have him here.

The Arsenal manager also noted that Madueke’s pre-existing chemistry with several England internationals in the squad will help him settle quickly.

Despite fan concerns over the fee and Madueke’s injury record, Arsenal’s top brass are confident they’ve secured a player with huge upside. Sporting director Andrea Berta said:

Noni is a dynamic, versatile wide forward player with strong technical ability who will significantly strengthen our squad. His performance numbers and availability over recent seasons reflect his quality and professionalism.

The move also suggests Arteta is keen to add depth and unpredictability to his attack — especially with Arsenal now targeting silverware across the Premier League, Champions League, and domestic cups.

  • Joined Chelsea from PSV in January 2023 for £30m
  • Scored 7 goals in 18 months at Stamford Bridge
  • Featured in the Club World Cup and made several Premier League starts under Mauricio Pochettino
  • Known for his explosive dribbling, left-footed creativity, and direct style of play

However, the winger struggled for consistent minutes amid Chelsea’s bloated squad and injuries — prompting the club to cash in this summer as part of their financial restructuring.

Madueke will officially link up with Arsenal in early August, after the squad returns from their pre-season tour of Asia. He is expected to feature in the club’s Emirates Cup fixtures before the new campaign begins.

For Arsenal, this signing is not just about the now — it’s a statement of long-term intent. A fit and firing Madueke could be one of the league’s most dangerous wide threats if given the right platform.
