Arsenal’s transfer business this summer has already turned heads, but the North London club may not be done yet. With Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze firmly on their radar, reports suggest that the Gunners could part ways with Leandro Trossard to make room for the dynamic midfielder. While the Belgian has been a reliable asset, insiders believe his departure might be a necessary step to inject more creativity into Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal Eyeing Final Piece in Midfield Puzzle

Despite already adding six new names to the roster — including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Viktor Gyokeres — Arsenal’s recruitment drive appears far from over. According to trusted journalist Charles Watts, the Gunners are seriously considering a late-window push for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, a move that could elevate their attacking midfield options significantly.

Watts, speaking to Sports Mole, emphasized that Eze brings a different skill set that Arsenal currently lacks — especially in the advanced midfield role, often referred to as the “left eight” position.

Why Eze Could Be the Missing Creative Spark

Although players like Declan Rice and Mikel Merino provide structure and energy, Watts highlighted a creative gap in that area of the pitch. “They’re great at breaking lines and arriving late in the box, but they’re not the ones to unlock a deep defense with a single pass,” he said. Eze, on the other hand, is known for his flair, unpredictability, and ability to change a game with moments of brilliance.

His potential arrival could give Arsenal a new dimension — a player capable of injecting flair into tight contests and offering a more mercurial presence in midfield.

Leandro Trossard: A Tough But “Acceptable” Sacrifice

Watts pointed out that in order to facilitate Eze’s arrival, the club might need to sell. One name being floated is Leandro Trossard — a player who has been both versatile and dependable since arriving from Brighton.

“I wouldn’t want to see him forced out — he’s been a great asset, especially with his availability and ability to cover multiple positions,” Watts stated. “But if letting him go meant securing Eze, I think it’s an acceptable sacrifice.”

With Noni Madueke also arriving this summer and potentially taking minutes on the left flank, the Gunners could be prepared to let Trossard leave — though not without hesitation. The Belgian has been a rare constant in an injury-hit squad and contributed significantly in terms of goals and assists.

Depth Still Maintained Without Trossard

Should the move go ahead, Arsenal wouldn’t be left short on the left wing. Between Gabriel Martinelli, the newly-signed Madueke, and potentially Eze, Arteta would still have plenty of attacking options at his disposal. While Trossard’s departure wouldn’t be celebrated, it may be viewed as a strategic trade-off to evolve the team’s attacking identity.
