Chelsea Edging Closer to Signing Alejandro Garnacho Amid Reduced £30M Valuation

Chelsea appear to be closing in on the signing of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, with fresh reports suggesting the Blues are the frontrunners to land the Argentine talent. Despite United’s previous £70 million asking price, the club may now accept a significantly lower fee, paving the way for a potential summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho Set for Summer Exit as Chelsea Step Up Interest

Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks. The 20-year-old, once considered a rising star at Old Trafford, has seen his stock decline following a reported rift with new head coach Ruben Amorim. As a result, Garnacho has fallen down the pecking order and is now reportedly part of the squad’s unwanted list — often dubbed the “bomb squad.”

Chelsea, eager to strengthen their attacking options, have been closely monitoring the winger’s situation. The London club has already splashed out roughly £250 million this transfer window, yet they remain in the hunt for dynamic forward players — with Garnacho and Xavi Simons both on their radar.

Chelsea Identified as “Expected Winner” in Transfer Chase

Respected former Premier League chief scout Mick Brown believes Chelsea are leading the chase for Garnacho. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown suggested that a move is becoming increasingly likely.

Everybody is expecting Garnacho to leave,Chelsea are the one club who have shown a genuine desire to bring him in… There is that desire from all sides to get the deal done because he doesn’t have a part to play under Amorim.

Mick Brown

Brown added that Chelsea have already opened discussions with the player’s representatives, and an agreement with United may not be far off.

United May Accept £40M Price Cut

Initially valued at around £70 million during the January transfer window, Manchester United now appear more flexible on Garnacho’s price tag. Football finance expert Stefan Borson has indicated that United might settle for a fee closer to £30 million — a staggering £40 million drop.

At £30 million, it feels like a low-risk deal,He’s still young, his wages are manageable, and even if Chelsea wanted to move him on in a year or two, it would likely be an easy resale.

Stefan Borson

Borson expressed some surprise that other clubs haven’t pursued the winger with the same intensity as Chelsea, especially given the potential value the deal represents.

What’s Next for Garnacho?

While clubs like Tottenham Hotspur have been loosely linked with Garnacho, none have made concrete moves. Chelsea, on the other hand, appear committed to securing his signature and are already in talks with both the player and his agent.

With Garnacho seemingly out of favor at Manchester United and the asking price now more palatable, a move to Stamford Bridge looks increasingly imminent — provided the final agreement on the transfer fee can be reached.
