Newcastle United’s turbulent summer continues as their transfer struggles deepen. With star striker Alexander Isak pushing for a move to Liverpool, the Magpies are scrambling for a suitable replacement. However, fresh complications in their chase for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and a bold £69 million offer for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo underline a window filled with setbacks and uncertainty.

Transfer Frustrations Mount for Newcastle

Newcastle have endured a disappointing transfer window, missing out on a string of key targets as Premier League rivals continue to outmaneuver them. A lack of clear leadership at the boardroom level is being blamed for the club’s inability to close deals for players like Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and James Trafford.

Transfer Frustrations Mount for NewcastleWissa Deal Stalls as Brentford Shift StanceSemenyo Identified as ‘Ideal’ Isak Successor

Amid this recruitment struggle, the looming departure of Alexander Isak adds another layer of urgency to Newcastle’s transfer plans. The Swedish international is reportedly keen on a move to Liverpool, and the Reds are expected to return with an improved offer once Newcastle secure a replacement.

Wissa Deal Stalls as Brentford Shift Stance

Yoane Wissa had emerged as Newcastle’s leading candidate to fill the void left by Isak. The Brentford forward was reportedly eager to join the Magpies and was left out of the squad for the Bees’ 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest—further fueling transfer speculation.

However, according to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Brentford have once again altered their position on the deal. Initially open to selling Wissa for around £40 million, the club now demands a fee in excess of £60 million—citing the need to first secure a replacement before any sale.

The North London side views recent signing Dango Ouattara as a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, not Wissa, meaning Newcastle’s offer will need to rise significantly if the deal is to progress. With Wissa turning 29 later this year and only one year remaining on his contract, Newcastle are reluctant to match Brentford’s steep valuation.

Semenyo Identified as ‘Ideal’ Isak Successor

With the Wissa move stalling, Newcastle have reportedly turned their attention to Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. Though not a traditional striker, the Ghana international has impressed with his versatility and attacking flair.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims Newcastle are preparing a substantial bid worth €80 million (approximately £69 million) to lure Semenyo to St. James’ Park. The report describes him as the “ideal replacement” for Isak, with Bournemouth likely to consider the offer given the forward’s rising stock and current form.

Magpies Face Crucial Days Ahead

With Liverpool circling and Isak’s departure seemingly inevitable, Newcastle must act swiftly to reinforce their attacking options. While Wissa appeared a viable target, Brentford’s shifting stance complicates matters. The potential acquisition of Semenyo could represent a fresh direction—if the Magpies are willing to meet the price tag. As the transfer window edges closer to its final stretch, Newcastle’s next moves could define their season.
