New Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou has defended his attacking philosophy, insisting his style is about winning trophies rather than blind commitment to attack. The Australian, fresh from lifting the Europa League with Tottenham, has promised Forest fans an exciting brand of football built on goals and hard work.
Ange Postecoglou has wasted no time making his stance clear at Nottingham Forest. The former Tottenham boss, who replaced the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo, has fired back at critics of his so-called “one-dimensional” approach, insisting that his attacking football has always been about one thing — winning.
Postecoglou arrives at the City Ground after a mixed two-year stint in north London. His Spurs side delivered European glory with a Europa League triumph — their first continental silverware in 41 years — but endured a miserable Premier League campaign, finishing 17th after losing 22 games, the worst record for a non-relegated team. Despite the criticism, the Australian refuses to abandon his principles.

Speaking to Forest TV, Postecoglou said:
I love winning. I love winning things, it’s what I’ve done. I want the fans to be excited about watching the team play. I think there’s already an existing mentality within the group of working hard for one another and, you know, I want to tap into that. And from my perspective it’s about now implementing my own ideas. It’s no secret I like my teams to attack. I love my teams to score goals. That’s sometimes misconstrued as me just playing one way, but the reason I want my teams to play that way is I love winning things and that’s what I want to do here.
Forest fans will be eager to see how his bold approach translates in the Premier League. Postecoglou has already pointed to his track record of delivering silverware in his second season at clubs, a promise that will fuel excitement at the City Ground.
The test begins immediately. Forest’s first game under their new boss comes with a trip to Arsenal, fierce rivals of his former club Tottenham. For Postecoglou, it’s the perfect stage to show that his philosophy — often misunderstood — can bring both excitement and results.
