Jack Grealish is “loving his football again” at Everton, according to Don Hutchison, who says the winger is finally free from his Manchester City struggles and thriving under David Moyes. Despite his resurgence, the former midfielder believes Thomas Tuchel’s decision to leave Grealish out of the England squad still “makes sense” given the competition for places.

Grealish thriving again at Everton

Jack Grealish has rediscovered his spark at Everton, with Don Hutchison claiming the winger is “in the best headspace he’s been in for years.” After struggling for minutes and consistency at Manchester City, Grealish’s season-long loan to Merseyside has reignited his confidence and creativity — with four assists in his first seven Premier League games.

The England international joined the Toffees in August seeking a fresh start and credits David Moyes for trusting him with freedom on the pitch. Hutchison, a former Everton midfielder, believes Grealish’s new environment is the perfect place for him to flourish.

A million percent. We’re seeing a player who’s just loving football again, Hutchison told onlinecasinos.com.
He’s probably in the best headspace he’s been in for years. It’s not rocket science — give him games, let him know he’s loved, tell him he’s the best player at the club and that he has the keys to Hill Dickinson Stadium. Jack can be a maverick again, and that’s what he’s always wanted.

Hutchison added that while Grealish’s time at City brought trophies — including three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and the Champions League — his final year “turned sour” as he fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola.

Why the England snub still makes sense

Despite his impressive return to form, Thomas Tuchel has continued to omit Grealish from the England squad — a decision Hutchison feels is understandable given the strength in depth.

He left out Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Adam Wharton and Grealish, Hutchison said. But Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who’s not played loads for AC Milan, is still in. I think Jack would love to be back in the squad, but I don’t think it will be bothering him too much right now.

Tuchel’s selection choices have divided opinion, but with Grealish regaining rhythm at club level, his focus appears to be on performing consistently for Everton rather than worrying about international omissions.

A career of flair, resilience, and reinvention

Grealish’s career has been defined by moments of flair and resilience. From captaining Aston Villa to Premier League promotion in 2019 while wearing his iconic “lucky boots,” to becoming Britain’s first £100 million player when he joined Manchester City in 2021, the 29-year-old’s journey has been eventful.

He earned 39 England caps, featured in Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, and was part of City’s treble-winning campaign. But after injuries and reduced minutes, the winger’s career needed a reset — and Everton have given him just that.

Everton and City face decision time

Grealish’s loan deal includes an option to buy for £50 million ($66.7m) next summer, though reports suggest Manchester City could accept a slightly lower figure if the player pushes for a permanent move.

The winger has openly expressed his happiness on Merseyside, saying he feels “loved and free again” in Moyes’ setup. For Everton, his early form represents both a boost in creativity and a potential long-term coup — provided they can meet City’s valuation.

As for Grealish, after years of frustration, he finally looks settled — playing with joy, confidence, and the swagger that once made him England’s great entertainer.
