Antony Nears Old Trafford Exit Amid Al-Nassr Interest and Ronaldo’s Influence
Manchester United winger Antony could be heading for a fresh start in Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr reportedly submitting an offer to sign the Brazilian. The move comes as Cristiano Ronaldo’s club intensifies its pursuit of European talent this summer—and Antony appears to be high on their list.
Al-Nassr Join Race for Out-of-Favor Antony
Al-Nassr, home to football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, have officially entered the race to sign Manchester United’s Antony, according to Foot Mercato. The Saudi Pro League side is said to have submitted a formal bid for the Brazilian winger, although the financial details of the offer remain undisclosed.
United, however, reportedly value Antony at a minimum of €60 million and have already rejected a separate €20 million offer from Real Betis, which included only 50% of the player’s economic rights.
Ronaldo’s Growing Influence in Al-Nassr Transfers
Sources suggest Ronaldo has played a significant role in Al-Nassr’s transfer strategy this summer. As part of the conditions to extend his stay with the club, the Portuguese star reportedly requested influence over incoming signings. That influence appears to be shaping the squad, with Antony and Chelsea’s João Félix both on the verge of joining the Saudi side.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed over the weekend that Al-Nassr and Chelsea have reached a deal for João Félix, with the player scheduled to complete his medical and sign a two-year contract. The deal is valued at €30 million plus add-ons, with Chelsea inserting a significant sell-on clause.
Antony Among United’s Summer Exit List
Manchester United’s summer business has focused heavily on trimming the squad. With Marcus Rashford recently joining Barcelona, other names—including Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tyrell Malacia—are also reportedly available for transfer. Antony, who arrived at United for a hefty fee but failed to meet expectations, is seen as a key candidate to be offloaded.
The Brazilian’s loan spell at Real Betis offered a glimpse of his potential return to form. While Betis expressed interest in making the move permanent, their offer didn’t meet United’s valuation.
Ex-United Coach Recommends Spanish Stay
Rene Meulensteen, former Manchester United assistant coach, weighed in on Antony’s situation earlier this year. He advised the 24-year-old to remain in Spain, citing his improved performances and overall well-being at Betis.
“Antony has no future at Manchester United,” Meulensteen said in April. “He’s much happier and playing better in Spain. If he returns to Manchester, he’ll fall back into old habits. Staying at Betis would be the best move for everyone.”
What’s Next for Antony?
With interest from both Spain and Saudi Arabia, Antony faces a pivotal career decision. United are keen to move him on, and Al-Nassr’s deep pockets and Ronaldo’s backing might make the Middle East an attractive destination.
Whether the Red Devils accept the current offer or hold out for a higher bid remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Antony’s days at Old Trafford appear to be numbered.
