Arsenal Back Off Kamara Chase Amidst Villa Commitment and Tottenham Interest
Arsenal’s hopes of signing Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara have officially ended, as the French international has chosen to stay put at Villa Park. Despite reported interest from both Arsenal and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Kamara has committed to a long-term future with Unai Emery’s side, ruling out a potential summer switch.
Arsenal’s Transfer Focus Shifts After Busy Window
Following a third consecutive runner-up finish in the Premier League and another trophyless campaign, Arsenal entered the summer with a clear intent to reinforce their squad. While their activity began slowly, Mikel Arteta’s side have since accelerated their recruitment drive, securing six new signings, including standout additions like Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners have invested around £200 million so far, with Gyokeres’s arrival from Sporting CP signaling a major attacking boost. Despite the significant outlay, Arsenal are reportedly still in the market for an attacking midfielder, with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze a potential target.
Kamara No Longer in Arsenal’s Plans
Among the numerous names linked with a move to the Emirates, Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara was considered a viable option in midfield. However, according to Graeme Bailey of The Boot Room, Arsenal have now ruled out a move for the 24-year-old.
Bailey reports that Kamara was “firmly on Arsenal’s long list” of midfield options this summer, but the Gunners quickly learned that a deal was off the table. Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be monitoring the situation, with Spurs even lodging an inquiry. Still, Kamara made it clear he had no intention of leaving Birmingham.
Kamara Commits to Aston Villa Until 2030
Kamara has put speculation to rest by signing a contract extension with Aston Villa that runs until 2030. The midfielder has been a key figure under Emery and impressed in both domestic and European competitions. PSG reportedly took notice of his performances during their Champions League meetings with Villa and are expected to continue tracking his progress.
Aston Villa have been cautious in this transfer window due to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), limiting their movement in the market. Retaining Kamara—one of their prized assets—is seen as a major win for the club amid financial balancing efforts.
What’s Next for Arsenal?
With Kamara no longer a possibility, Arsenal will likely continue to explore midfield options as the window progresses. Having already secured key targets and strengthened various positions, the club remains focused on fine-tuning their squad depth as they aim to finally end their title drought in 2025/26.
