Arsenal Face Noni Madueke Injury Scare After Mikel Arteta Substitution in Man City Draw

Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City saw Noni Madueke substituted at half-time despite an electric first-half performance. Mikel Arteta revealed the winger picked up an injury, leaving fans anxious ahead of upcoming fixtures.

Arsenal were left sweating over the fitness of in-form winger Noni Madueke after the 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday. Despite being one of the Gunners’ standout players in the first half, Madueke was substituted at the break, with Mikel Arteta later confirming that the change was due to an injury concern.

Madueke’s Strong First Half, but Injury Intervene

Madueke, deputizing for the injured Bukayo Saka, had been Arsenal’s most dangerous attacker in the opening 45 minutes. His direct runs and creativity troubled Manchester City’s defence, even forcing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma into a key save just before the break.

However, much to the surprise of fans, Arteta opted to bring on Saka in place of Madueke at half-time. While Saka’s return to action was welcomed, many supporters were left puzzled by the substitution. Arteta later revealed that it wasn’t a tactical decision, but rather an injury-related one.

Arteta Confirms Injury

When questioned about the substitution, Arteta explained, “No, he had an issue very early in the match and he wasn’t well enough to continue.” While the nature of the injury was not specified, it was clear that Madueke had struggled through the first half and couldn’t continue.

The Gunners will now await updates on the England international’s fitness, with Arsenal’s fixture schedule intensifying in the coming weeks.

Madueke’s Impressive Start at Arsenal

Since his summer move from Chelsea, Madueke has been one of the standout performers for Arsenal. The winger has offered directness, creativity, and a constant threat down the right flank. His recent form has been crucial in keeping the Gunners competitive in both the Premier League and cup competitions.

Looking Ahead: Madueke’s Fitness for Newcastle Clash

With Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United on the horizon, Arteta will be hoping Madueke can recover in time. Arsenal also face Port Vale in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, and with Saka now back to full fitness, the Gunners have options. However, Madueke’s absence would be a blow for Arteta, who will rely on his attacking depth as Arsenal aim to remain competitive across all competitions.
