Louis Saha believes Cristiano Ronaldo deserves a £1 billion-a-week salary after his “incredible” performances at Al-Nassr and the remarkable impact he’s had on football.
Louis Saha has come out in strong support of his former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that the Portuguese icon deserves a staggering £1 billion-a-week salary for his incredible service to football.
Since his move to Al-Nassr in 2023, Ronaldo has been making waves in the Saudi Pro League, despite not yet securing a league title with his new team. After leaving Manchester United in a dramatic departure, Ronaldo’s commitment to Al-Nassr was confirmed earlier this summer, despite widespread speculation over his future in Saudi Arabia.

While Ronaldo’s move to the Middle East raised eyebrows, his performances in Saudi Arabia have earned him admiration from Louis Saha, his former United teammate. Saha took the opportunity to not only praise Ronaldo’s ongoing form but also to point out the struggles of the current Manchester United squad, which has faced criticism for underperforming in recent years.
United has attempted to overhaul their roster but have made limited progress with Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon being their only signings so far.
In an interview with BoyleSports, Saha showered Ronaldo with praise, stating: “Cristiano Ronaldo is an ambassador for football in Saudi Arabia. He has attracted so many high-quality and young players out there. Even at his age, he has stayed at the top, proving it in the games he’s played recently.”
Saha went on to claim that Ronaldo deserves more than just his current contract, even suggesting that the football icon deserves a billion a week:
“It’s an amazing achievement, and he deserves his new deal, he would probably deserve a billion a week for what he has done for football in society.”
He continued, emphasizing Ronaldo’s exceptional longevity: “He is 40, but he works like he is 25 with his passion, it’s unbelievable. He has a legacy in the Middle East and in the world in general, he deserves the contract more than any other player in the world, no athlete has done that.”

Saha also used Ronaldo’s commitment to highlight the struggles of his former United teammates, adding: “Manchester United have players that are 25 and acting like they’re 40, he is the opposite.”
United are still actively pursuing deals ahead of the 2025-26 season. While their move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has progressed slowly, there is also growing interest in Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso. As the new season approaches, Manchester United’s transfer strategy remains in flux, but they are determined to strengthen their squad.
