Dutch footballer Royston Drenthe, known for his time at top clubs like Real Madrid and Feyenoord, has been hospitalized following a stroke. The news was confirmed by FC De Rebellen, a collective of former Dutch and Belgian players, who shared an update on the 38-year-old’s condition.

Health Scare for Former International Winger
Royston Drenthe suffered a stroke on Friday, according to a statement posted by FC De Rebellen on Instagram. The group, which includes Drenthe among its members, assured fans that he is receiving proper medical attention and remains in good hands.

While details about his current condition remain limited, the message emphasized the importance of allowing Drenthe and his family the privacy and space needed during this difficult time. Attempts to reach his representatives have been unsuccessful so far.

Career Highlights: From Real Madrid to English Football
Drenthe rose to prominence as a promising young winger, eventually earning a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2007. Despite a bright start, his time in Spain was mixed, and he went on to play for several clubs across Europe.

He later returned to the Netherlands with Feyenoord and had stints in England with Everton, Reading, and Sheffield Wednesday. Known for his pace and attacking flair, Drenthe officially retired from professional football in 2023.

Support and Wishes for Recovery
Messages of support have poured in from fans and the football community, wishing Drenthe a full and speedy recovery. FC De Rebellen expressed their solidarity with the former player, urging supporters and the media to respect his family’s request for privacy.
