Granit Xhaka is reportedly in talks with Sunderland for a €10m transfer after two years at Bayer Leverkusen, with the midfielder eyed as a replacement for Jobe Bellingham.
Granit Xhaka has been offered a stunning return to the Premier League, with Sunderland reportedly in talks to sign the former Arsenal captain as a replacement for Jobe Bellingham.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Sunderland have made an ambitious move for Granit Xhaka, who is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen after just two years in the Bundesliga. The 32-year-old Switzerland international is in discussions with the Black Cats over a €10 million (£8.6 million) transfer. Sunderland are prepared to offer Xhaka a three-year contract, hoping to secure his services as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League since 2016-17.

While Sunderland are making significant moves, they are not alone in pursuing Xhaka. The midfielder is reportedly also in talks with Saudi Arabian side Neom, which would offer him a substantial pay rise. Additionally, AC Milan has shown interest in the ex-Arsenal player, although discussions with Leverkusen have not progressed significantly.
Sunderland made an impressive return to the Premier League after winning promotion via the Championship play-offs. Their investment in new players includes the permanent acquisition of Enzo Le Fee and signings such as Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Chemsdine Talbi, and Simon Adingra. With their ambitious approach, Sunderland are looking to strengthen further for their Premier League campaign.

If Xhaka makes the move to Sunderland, he would be tasked with filling the void left by Jobe Bellingham, who joined Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer. The Swiss midfielder’s experience and leadership would be a significant asset to a Sunderland side eager to make an impact in the top flight.
