Leeds United are making measured moves in the summer transfer window, and while early signings have plugged key gaps, attention has now turned to strengthening the midfield. Despite a lack of public updates, behind-the-scenes negotiations for Hoffenheim’s Anton Stach are reportedly progressing—though slowly—as the club pushes to land a powerful presence in the middle of the park.

Midfield Reinforcements Remain a Priority

Leeds have already reinforced their squad with additions in defence and attack, but bolstering the midfield remains high on the agenda. The club has shown consistent interest in Anton Stach, a Bundesliga regular with international experience for Germany. At 26, the towering 6’4″ midfielder fits the mold of what Leeds are looking for—strong, composed, and versatile.

Initial links to Stach surfaced in early July via the Yorkshire Evening Post, and while updates have been scarce since then, sources suggest that Leeds are still pursuing the deal with quiet determination.

Stach’s Profile Matches Leeds’ Midfield Blueprint

Anton Stach is more than just a physical enforcer. Known for his ability to press high, distribute from deep, and control the tempo, the German international would offer Leeds a multi-dimensional option in the center of the pitch. As the club continues to shape a side capable of competing in the Premier League, Stach’s blend of experience and upside makes him an ideal fit.

Hoffenheim reportedly value the player at around £17 million, a fee Leeds are said to be willing to consider if they feel the player can make an immediate impact.

Behind Closed Doors: Why Patience Is Key

Despite growing fan frustration over the lack of visible progress, Leeds are opting to keep negotiations private to avoid a drawn-out, media-fueled saga. Conversations with both Hoffenheim and Stach’s representatives have taken place, but the very public nature of the club’s interest has reportedly complicated talks.

Still, club insiders maintain a cautiously optimistic tone. While there’s no imminent breakthrough, Leeds are clearly not walking away from the table either.

Building the Bigger Picture

So far this summer, Leeds have added defensive strength in Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw, brought in Gabriel Gudmundsson to shore up the flanks, and added attacking firepower with Lukas Nmecha. Yet the engine room of the squad—the midfield—still needs one or two more pieces to be complete.

Stach may not be the next name announced, but his continued presence on Leeds’ radar confirms he remains a live target as the window progresses.
