Liverpool have submitted a stunning €90 million bid for Hugo Ekitike, aiming to land the French forward from Eintracht Frankfurt in what could become a record-breaking deal for the German club. With the Reds reshaping their attack under Arne Slot and preparing for possible exits of Darwin Nunez and Luis Díaz, Ekitike has emerged as a top target.

Liverpool have made a bold move in the transfer market by submitting a €90 million (£78m/$105m) bid for Eintracht Frankfurt’s in-demand striker Hugo Ekitike. According to Sky Sports, the Reds have already reached an agreement in principle with the German club, positioning themselves to secure one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

If the proposed deal goes through, and all performance-related clauses are met, it would eclipse Frankfurt’s current record departure — the €95 million they received from PSG for Randal Kolo Muani in 2023. The French forward is said to be eager to join the Premier League, with Liverpool his preferred destination. Newcastle United made a bid earlier this week, but Frankfurt rejected their offer, and Ekitike now has his sights firmly set on a switch to Merseyside.

The push for Ekitike comes as Liverpool continue to reshape their squad under new head coach Arne Slot. The tragic passing of Diogo Jota has forced the club to fast-track plans for attacking reinforcements. With midfield additions like Florian Wirtz already completed, attention has turned to the frontline — especially with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Darwin Nunez and Luis Díaz.

Nunez’s inconsistency has left Slot unconvinced, and Liverpool are open to offers for the Uruguayan. Meanwhile, Díaz has expressed a desire to explore opportunities elsewhere, with both Bayern Munich and Barcelona circling. These potential departures have intensified Liverpool’s interest in Ekitike, who they believe can lead their attack in a new era.

Ekitike, 22, is viewed as a long-term project and an ideal fit for Slot’s high-tempo, attacking style. He brings pace, strength, and composure in front of goal, and his standout performances for Frankfurt in the second half of last season have only increased his value. If the deal is finalized, it will not only represent a major coup for Liverpool but also send a clear message about their ambitions both in England and in Europe.

The French striker now looks set to become the next big addition at Anfield as the Reds continue their summer overhaul — one designed to ensure they remain serious contenders on all fronts.
