Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike in Line for First France Call-Up After Stunning Start to Premier League Life

Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike is in contention for his first France call-up after impressing with two goals in his first two Premier League appearances.

Liverpool’s summer signing Hugo Ekitike is making waves in the Premier League and could be rewarded with a first call-up to the France national team, following his impressive performances since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 23-year-old striker has quickly adapted to life on Merseyside, scoring in both the Community Shield against Crystal Palace and Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Bournemouth in their Premier League opener.

Ekitike Impresses Early with Liverpool

Since arriving at Liverpool, Ekitike has shown his goal-scoring instinct, netting on his competitive debut in the Community Shield and following that up with another goal in the Premier League. His early form has not gone unnoticed, especially by France head coach Didier Deschamps, who is reportedly considering the young forward for a spot in the upcoming World Cup qualification matches against Ukraine and Iceland in September.

A Potential Replacement for Kolo Muani

French outlet Telefoot reports that Ekitike’s stellar start to the season could earn him a spot in Deschamps’ squad, with a potential place opening up for him after Randal Kolo Muani’s uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain. The latter has attracted significant interest from Juventus, and his situation has made him a potential candidate to be replaced by Ekitike.

Youthful Promise for France

While Ekitike is yet to earn his first senior cap for France, his youth international record is impressive. The former Reims forward scored five goals in just as many games for France’s Under-21s, including a memorable hat-trick against England in March. These performances have made him a strong contender to join the senior squad.

What’s Next for Ekitike and Liverpool?

As Ekitike continues to impress at Liverpool, he will look to add more goals to his tally in the Premier League. Liverpool’s next match sees them travel to Newcastle United, followed by a crucial home fixture against Arsenal at Anfield on August 31. Should he continue his fine form, a call-up to the French national team could be a dream come true for the young striker.
