Man Utd’s 14-Year-Old ‘Kid Messi’ Joseph Gabriel Called Into First-Team Training by Ruben Amorim

Manchester United’s 14-year-old sensation Joseph “JJ” Gabriel, dubbed the “Kid Messi,” has been called into first-team training by Ruben Amorim. The young forward’s dazzling performances are raising expectations, with many tipping him as the future record-breaker at United.

Manchester United’s academy continues to produce exceptional talent, and none more so than Joseph Junior “JJ” Gabriel, the 14-year-old forward who has already made a name for himself as a prodigious talent. The London-born youngster, often referred to as the “Kid Messi”, was recently invited into Ruben Amorim’s first-team training at Carrington, marking an extraordinary milestone in his young career.

What Happened?
Gabriel, who has already made history as the youngest player to feature for United’s Under-18s, has been turning heads for his ability to hold his own against players several years his senior. In his first U18 start last weekend, the teenager impressed in a 1-0 win at Everton, with coaches describing his performance as “fearless.” Despite his smaller stature, Gabriel was able to dictate play, demonstrating remarkable maturity and composure on the ball.

The Big Picture
Gabriel’s rise has been meteoric. Having first caught attention with his dazzling dribbles and outrageous goals at the age of 9, Gabriel has been dubbed the “Kid Messi” by those who have seen his rise through the ranks. Last season, he made an impact in United’s U18s, scoring a brace off the bench in a 13-1 demolition of Leeds, making him the youngest-ever player to feature at that level.

Ruben Amorim has expressed excitement over Gabriel’s development, with the Portuguese boss keen on integrating him into senior football. United’s technical director, Darren Fletcher, and football chief Matt Hargreaves have been crucial in securing Gabriel’s future at the club, ensuring he stays at United despite interest from Europe’s biggest clubs. Gabriel has committed to United for the next two years, with both parties eager to nurture his extraordinary potential.

TELL ME MORE
Born to former Republic of Ireland defender Joe O’Cearuill, Gabriel has already earned a Nike sponsorship deal, marking a major milestone in his career even before his 15th birthday. His rapid rise has many tipping him as one of the brightest talents to come out of United’s academy in recent years.

What’s Next for Gabriel?
While it’s common for young academy talents to train with senior teams, it’s incredibly rare for a player as young as Gabriel to be invited into first-team training. Amorim’s decision to have Gabriel alongside the senior squad throughout the season is a testament to the belief the club has in his future. Rather than rushing him into the team, the focus will be on acclimating Gabriel to the intensity of Premier League training to accelerate his development. Whether or not Gabriel will make his senior debut this season remains to be seen, but his future at Manchester United looks incredibly bright.
