Newcastle Face Transfer Turmoil Amid Striker Hunt, Eye Cut-Price Deal for Conrad Harder

Newcastle United are feeling the pressure in the final stretch of the transfer window as their search for forward reinforcements intensifies. With star striker Alexander Isak attracting serious interest from Liverpool, and several transfer pursuits hitting roadblocks, the Magpies have reportedly been presented with a potential bargain option—Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder.

Isak Unsettled Amid Liverpool Links

The future of Alexander Isak at St. James’ Park remains uncertain. Following a stellar campaign where he netted 27 goals across all competitions, the Swedish international has emerged as a top target for Premier League champions Liverpool. Although Newcastle are holding firm on their £150 million valuation, speculation continues to mount over a possible departure.

Despite being under contract until 2028, Isak’s desire to join Liverpool has stirred tension within the camp, with reports suggesting the player is eager to force through a move. Newcastle are reluctant to sanction the transfer unless a replacement is lined up, adding urgency to their striker search.

Conrad Harder Offered to Newcastle in Cut-Price Proposal

According to Graeme Bailey of The Boot Room, Newcastle have been offered the opportunity to sign 20-year-old Conrad Harder from Sporting Lisbon in a significantly reduced deal. Harder, who joined Sporting last summer for £16 million from Nordsjaelland, made an immediate impact by scoring 12 goals in his debut season.

Although the young striker has a release clause of £69 million in his contract, Sporting may be open to selling for less, with AC Milan reportedly submitting a £20 million offer plus a substantial sell-on clause. Intermediaries have now approached Newcastle to gauge their interest in the Danish forward, a player they have previously scouted.

With Newcastle aiming to secure two new forwards before the window shuts, Harder could become a realistic and financially viable option should other targets remain out of reach.

Jorgen Strand Larsen Deal Hits a Wall

Another name on Newcastle’s shortlist is Jorgen Strand Larsen, but hopes of securing the Wolves striker are fading fast. As reported by Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Wolves are reluctant to sell the Norwegian forward and would demand a fee significantly higher than what they paid.

The Magpies are yet to make an official approach for Strand Larsen, and with Wolves having already lost two key players this summer, the Midlands club is determined to retain him. Journalist Ben Jacobs has since revealed that Newcastle submitted a £50 million bid, which Wolves swiftly rejected, reaffirming their stance that the striker is not for sale.

What’s Next for Newcastle in the Market?

With time ticking and top targets proving difficult to land, Newcastle must act decisively to strengthen their attacking line—particularly if Isak does depart. While a marquee signing may now be out of reach, the potential acquisition of Conrad Harder offers a blend of value, youth, and upside.

The Magpies’ ability to pivot swiftly in the market could define their season as they aim to remain competitive at home and in Europe.
