Newcastle's attempts to sign a Euro giant striker have been denied

Newcastle United’s pursuit of a new striker has taken another twist as reports linking the Magpies with Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani have been firmly dismissed. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Juventus—not Newcastle—are in pole position to secure the French striker’s signature. With Kolo Muani off the table, all eyes now turn to Brentford’s Yoane Wissa as the likeliest candidate to bolster the Toon attack.

Newcastle Deny Talks for PSG Striker Kolo Muani

Despite reports suggesting Newcastle had entered negotiations with PSG for Randal Kolo Muani, insider sources have pushed back against the claims. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that there have been “no talks” between Newcastle and the Ligue 1 club regarding the striker.

Romano emphasized that Juventus remains the only club actively engaged in discussions for Kolo Muani, who previously enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Serie A giants. During his half-season stint in Turin, the 25-year-old forward tallied 10 goals and 3 assists in 22 appearances—far outshining his limited game time in Paris.

Given his familiarity with the club and his desire to return, Kolo Muani’s move back to Juventus appears imminent. Newcastle, meanwhile, have shifted their focus elsewhere.

Newcastle’s Striker Search Hits Roadblocks

The Magpies’ striker search has been anything but smooth this summer. The blow of potentially losing star forward Alexander Isak—who has netted 62 goals in 109 appearances—has compounded their transfer woes.

Earlier targets like Hugo Ekitike chose Liverpool, while Benjamin Sesko now looks destined for Manchester United, leaving Newcastle scrambling for alternatives.

Although Kolo Muani was reportedly a prime target following Sesko’s likely move, Romano’s update has effectively ruled him out, narrowing the club’s shortlist further.

Brentford’s Yoane Wissa Now Leading Candidate

With other options slipping away, Newcastle seem ready to push forward with a deal for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. Recent reports indicate that a £35 million agreement is close to being finalized, with the player keen to make the switch.

Wissa is reportedly prepared to travel as soon as negotiations conclude. His representatives were already en route to England for advanced talks on Friday, suggesting that the deal could be wrapped up swiftly—potentially giving Newcastle the striker reinforcement they’ve been urgently seeking.

What’s Next for the Magpies?

While hopes of landing a high-profile name like Kolo Muani have faded, the potential arrival of Wissa offers a more immediate solution. With the season fast approaching and attacking reinforcements still lacking, Newcastle’s urgency is understandable. If they can secure Wissa soon, it could ease the pressure following a turbulent transfer window.
