Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich: Chelsea striker set for shock loan move to join Harry Kane in Bundesliga

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is closing in on a loan move to Bayern Munich, with the German champions agreeing to cover his wages. The deal includes a hefty loan fee and raises questions about his Stamford Bridge future amid Chelsea’s aggressive transfer activity.

Nicolas Jackson’s turbulent Chelsea career appears to be nearing an abrupt pause, with reports in Germany confirming that the striker is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich on loan. The Bundesliga giants are leading the race to land the 23-year-old, who will link up with Harry Kane in Bavaria if talks reach a conclusion before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Bayern Munich Lead the Chase

According to Sky Germany, Bayern are pushing ahead in negotiations and have already agreed to cover Jackson’s full wages. Chelsea have sanctioned the loan but are demanding a hefty £10 million ($13.5m) loan fee, with the possibility of an obligation to buy included if a permanent deal cannot be reached immediately.

For Bayern, the move makes sense. Sporting director Max Eberl has been determined to bolster the squad’s attacking depth, with Kane firmly established as first-choice striker. Jackson, therefore, would play a supporting role, featuring in rotational games across the Bundesliga, Champions League, and DFB-Pokal.

Jackson’s Declining Role at Chelsea

Jackson’s departure underlines the remarkable shift in his standing at Stamford Bridge. Initially viewed as a cornerstone of Chelsea’s rebuild, the Senegalese forward has been sidelined following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, who have already displaced him in Enzo Maresca’s starting XI.

The 23-year-old has not made a single matchday squad in Chelsea’s opening two Premier League fixtures, signalling that the club sees little future for him in the immediate plans.

Chelsea’s Transfer Frenzy

The situation is further complicated by Chelsea’s relentless activity in the transfer market. The Blues are still locked in negotiations with Manchester United for winger Alejandro Garnacho, who has reportedly agreed personal terms with Chelsea. United, however, remain firm on their £50m ($67.5m) valuation, rejecting multiple bids.

At the same time, Chelsea are also exploring a move for Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, a deal that could involve Christopher Nkunku heading back to Germany after struggling for form and fitness in London. These parallel negotiations highlight the scale of Chelsea’s reshaping, leaving players like Jackson surplus to requirements.

Bayern’s Perspective

From Bayern’s viewpoint, signing Jackson represents an opportunistic move. With Kane carrying much of the goalscoring burden, depth is a priority for Thomas Tuchel’s side, especially given the demands of competing on multiple fronts.

The Senegalese striker, despite his mixed Chelsea spell, still has qualities that Bayern could harness. His physical presence, direct running, and versatility in attack provide a different profile to Kane and could give Tuchel tactical flexibility.

What It Means for Jackson

For Jackson himself, the move could be a career lifeline. After being frozen out at Chelsea, a loan to Bayern offers the chance to reset his career at one of Europe’s biggest clubs. While he will not displace Kane, the opportunity to learn from the England captain and thrive in a system that often dominates possession could aid his development.

Jackson is said to be fully on board with the switch, viewing it as a necessary fresh start after a difficult spell in west London.

Race Against Time

With just days left before the transfer window shuts, time is running out for all parties to finalise terms. Chelsea remain preoccupied with simultaneous negotiations for Garnacho, Simons, and Nkunku, while Bayern push to add one last reinforcement up front.

If the deal goes through, Nicolas Jackson will be swapping the pressure cooker of Stamford Bridge for a Bayern side hungry to defend their Bundesliga crown and chase Champions League glory.
