Paul Pogba Vows to Deliver 'Great' Version of Himself at Monaco After Doping Ban

Paul Pogba is determined to deliver a top-level performance at Monaco after returning from an 18-month doping ban. The former Manchester United star is focused on regaining his best form.

Former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has vowed to return to his best as he prepares for life with Monaco, following a doping ban that sidelined him for nearly two years. The 32-year-old is determined to meet the high standards he set at his former clubs before making his much-anticipated debut for the Ligue 1 side.

Pogba’s Return After Doping Ban
After serving an 18-month doping suspension, which was reduced from four years on appeal, Pogba signed for Monaco earlier this summer. Despite the lengthy layoff, the Frenchman is taking his time to ensure he returns to peak form before stepping onto the pitch.

What Pogba Said About His Return
In an interview with BeIN Sports, Pogba revealed his commitment to a strong comeback: “That’s the first thing we said when I arrived. There are stages, for me, it’s about preparing well. I don’t want to come onto the pitch and not be me, not be Paul Pogba. Everyone is waiting for that, to see a great Paul Pogba on the pitch. That’s what I’m preparing for.”

The former World Cup winner admitted that his road to recovery hasn’t been easy, confessing that he even considered retiring from football during his time on the sidelines. However, his passion for the game has driven him to push forward. “I feel very good, the staff are taking very good care of me, it’s only a matter of time to be in top form. It’s what I love most in the world, I’m like a kid,” he added.

The Bigger Picture: Pogba’s Mentality and His Monaco Move
Pogba’s move to Monaco marks the next chapter in a career that has been both glittering and tumultuous. With his reputation built on exceptional performances at Juventus and Manchester United, the midfielder now has the chance to rediscover his best form in France. However, he knows it won’t be easy, and he’s focused on a patient approach as he prepares for a return to the top level.

What’s Next for Pogba and Monaco?
Pogba could make his return to football when Monaco opens their Ligue 1 campaign at home to Le Havre on Saturday, August 16. It remains to be seen how significant a role he will play in his new team, but one thing is certain: the Frenchman is determined to prove he’s still one of the best midfielders in the game.
