Premier League Players Set to Make a Big Impact in 2025/26

Discover the Premier League players set to make a big impact in 2025/26. From Igor Thiago’s redemption at Brentford to Rodri’s return to Manchester City, these players will be like new signings for their teams.

The 2025/26 Premier League season promises a fresh start for several players who have either been sidelined by injury or returned from successful loan spells. While clubs across England prepare for another action-packed campaign, these players are poised to hit the ground running, almost like new signings. Here’s a look at the Premier League stars who will be key to their team’s success this season.

Igor Thiago – Brentford: A New Hope for the Bees

Brentford’s £30m investment in Igor Thiago last summer had the potential to be a game-changer. Signed to replace Ivan Toney after his remarkable 29-goal season at Club Brugge, Thiago’s first campaign was marred by injury. After suffering a meniscus issue during pre-season and then another knee injury upon his return, Thiago managed just one Premier League start and 164 minutes of action.

With Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa both potentially leaving the club this summer, Thiago could finally fulfill his potential in West London. If Brentford lose one or both of their star forwards, Thiago will have the chance to step into a more prominent role and help the Bees push for a higher league finish.

Andrey Santos – Chelsea: A Rising Star in the Midfield

Chelsea’s extensive loan network continues to produce promising talent, and one of the standouts from last season was Andrey Santos. The 19-year-old impressed during his loan spell at Strasbourg, scoring 10 goals in Ligue 1, leading the division in tackles, and helping the club secure a European spot. Santos’ ability to break up play and contribute offensively makes him an exciting prospect for Chelsea.

With the midfield partnership of Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández looking solid, Santos could provide a valuable alternative, especially with Romeo Lavia’s ongoing injury issues. The Brazilian could make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge, offering depth and versatility to Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield options.

Rodri – Manchester City: Back to Full Fitness

Rodri’s absence from Manchester City for much of the 2024/25 season was one of the key reasons for the team’s struggles. After picking up an ACL injury in September, City’s form took a nosedive, leaving them in a battle for a top-four finish. With Rodri’s return, however, Pep Guardiola will be delighted to have his midfield maestro back in the fold. The Spanish international was pivotal in City’s Premier League title defense and played a crucial role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.

Rodri’s ability to control the tempo, break up opposition attacks, and contribute to City’s transition play will be indispensable in the coming season. Having him back in action will provide City with the stability and depth they need to remain competitive on all fronts.

Lisandro Martínez – Manchester United: A Strong Return

Manchester United’s defensive woes were evident during the 2024/25 campaign, but the return of Lisandro Martínez from injury will be a huge boost for Erik ten Hag’s side. The Argentine defender suffered an ACL injury that kept him out for a large portion of last season, but he’s now fully fit and ready to take his place in United’s defense. Martínez’s ability to break lines with his passing, coupled with his combative nature and leadership, makes him one of the most complete defenders in the Premier League.

With United’s defensive frailties exposed last season, Martínez’s return should help provide more balance and stability, particularly in the build-up from the back. His presence in the heart of defense will be crucial for United’s ambitions in the 2025/26 season.

Sven Botman – Newcastle United: The Return of an Elite Defender

Newcastle United’s defensive unit will look significantly stronger with the return of Sven Botman. The Dutchman made an immediate impact in his debut season at St James’ Park, but injuries limited his appearances last year. Botman’s presence will be crucial, especially with the veteran pair of Fabian Schär and Dan Burn nearing the end of their careers. Botman’s ability to dominate aerial duels and read the game has made him a standout in the Premier League.

If fit, Botman could be the defensive pillar Eddie Howe needs to bolster Newcastle’s top-six aspirations. His return provides a level of consistency and class that the Magpies desperately need to compete at the highest level.
