PSV have been drawn against massive opponents in this year's UEFA Champions League

PSV Eindhoven are gearing up for a challenging UEFA Champions League campaign after being drawn into a high-profile group that includes European powerhouses Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The 2023–24 Eredivisie champions will test their mettle once again on the continental stage, facing eight opponents in the new League Phase format.

A Return to Europe’s Elite
After clinching back-to-back Eredivisie titles, PSV have firmly re-established themselves as a regular presence in the Champions League. This marks their third consecutive appearance in the tournament and their second straight season in the modernized League Phase, making them one of only 18 clubs to feature in both editions of the new format.

The Eindhoven-based club carries the legacy of their 1988 European Cup win and continues to build on that proud history. Last season, they impressed by advancing from the League Phase and eliminating Juventus in the knockout rounds. However, their European journey ended abruptly in the round of 16, with a heavy 7–1 defeat to Arsenal in Eindhoven—Arsenal later reached the semifinals.

High-Stakes Opponents Await PSV
This season, PSV face a daunting list of adversaries in the League Phase, with fixtures against some of the continent’s most formidable sides. The draw, held on Thursday, revealed eight opponents PSV must overcome to progress further in the competition.

PSV’s Champions League Fixtures:

  • PSV vs. Bayern Munich – A clash with the German champions promises a thrilling encounter.
  • Liverpool vs. PSV – A trip to Anfield is always a tough test, especially against a team with six European titles.
  • Bayer Leverkusen vs. PSV – The Bundesliga outfit adds more German flair to the group.
  • PSV vs. Atletico Madrid – A battle of contrasting styles with the defensively disciplined Spanish side.
  • Olympiacos vs. PSV – A trip to Greece could prove tricky in a heated atmosphere.
  • PSV vs. Napoli – Last year’s Italian champions bring pace and attacking firepower.
  • PSV vs. Union Saint-Gilloise – The Belgian side may be underestimated but shouldn’t be taken lightly.
  • Newcastle United vs. PSV – The Magpies’ recent resurgence makes this fixture an intriguing one.

The exact dates and kickoff times for these matches will be confirmed on Saturday.

A True Test of Depth and Ambition
PSV’s group is arguably one of the toughest in the League Phase. With elite opponents from five major European leagues, the Dutch champions will need consistency, squad depth, and top-level performances to progress. Fans will be hoping for another magical run in Europe, but the road ahead is filled with obstacles.
