Ruben Dias Signs New Contract Until 2029 at Man City

Ruben Dias has signed a new contract with Manchester City until 2029, committing his future to the club. The 28-year-old defender has been a key figure under Pep Guardiola and is set to remain with the Premier League champions for the foreseeable future.

Ruben Dias has officially extended his stay at Manchester City after signing a new contract that will keep him at the Etihad until 2029. The announcement is a huge boost to Pep Guardiola‘s squad as they look to maintain their dominance in English and European football.

What Happened?
The Portugal international, who joined Manchester City in 2020, has penned a four-year contract extension. Since his arrival, Dias has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top defenders, playing a pivotal role in City’s multiple Premier League and Champions League triumphs. Over the past five years, he has helped City secure four league titles and a Champions League victory.

The Bigger Picture
Despite struggling with calf and hip injuries last season that limited his minutes, Dias remains a vital part of Guardiola’s setup. He captained City on several occasions, and when fully fit, is a mainstay in the starting XI. The 28-year-old has made 223 appearances for the club and looks set to add to that total over the next few years.

What Dias Said
Expressing his joy at extending his stay, Dias shared:
“I am incredibly happy today. I love Manchester – it is my home now – and I love the Manchester City fans. When I think about the trophies we have won and the way we have played our football during my time here, I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.”

What’s Next?
With Tottenham set to face City on Saturday, Dias is expected to start, bringing his leadership and defensive prowess to the heart of City’s backline. His new deal ensures that Guardiola’s squad will remain as solid as ever for the upcoming challenges.
