Tottenham Hotspur Plot Move for Chelsea Striker Nicolas Jackson as Richarlison Exit Looms
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson as they brace for the potential departure of Richarlison. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have registered their interest in the 23-year-old striker, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s summer signings.
With Son Heung-min’s departure to Major League Soccer and Richarlison’s future in doubt, Tottenham are reshaping their attacking lineup — and Jackson could become a key part of that transformation.
Spurs Rebuild Frontline After Key Departures
Tottenham’s attack has already undergone significant change this summer. After lifting the Europa League title, the North London club confirmed the permanent signing of Mathys Tel following a successful loan spell and also brought in dynamic West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus.
However, those gains were quickly balanced by the emotional exit of club icon Son Heung-min, who left for the United States after finally securing silverware in England. With Richarlison also heavily linked with a move away, Spurs are actively exploring new offensive options.
Nicolas Jackson Attracting Premier League Interest
Romano confirmed that both Tottenham and Newcastle United are showing concrete interest in Jackson, who is deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea. The Blues, having recently brought in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, appear ready to part ways with the Senegalese striker.
“There is strong interest from Newcastle. They consider Jackson one of several striker targets,” said Romano. “Tottenham are also monitoring him closely, especially if Richarlison departs.”
While clubs in Germany and Italy have reportedly made inquiries, Romano noted that the Premier League remains Jackson’s most likely destination.
Richarlison’s Uncertain Future Could Trigger Spurs Move
Richarlison has been on thin ice at Tottenham for months, with rumors swirling about both a potential sale and internal pressure to move him on. Despite his underwhelming performances, Spurs are unlikely to let him go on the cheap. The Brazilian striker joined for £60 million in 2022 and still has two years left on his contract.
However, should a suitable offer come in, Tottenham could be in a position to accelerate their pursuit of Jackson — especially with Chelsea already signaling their intent to move the player on.
Spurs Face Stiff Competition from Newcastle
While Tottenham are keeping tabs, Newcastle may be slightly ahead in the race. Reports suggest Jackson is open to a move to St. James’ Park, though the Magpies are also in advanced discussions for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. If Newcastle finalize the Wissa deal, it could clear the path for Spurs to make a move for Jackson.
The Transfer Dominoes Are Ready to Fall
Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Jackson has been in the pipeline since early July, according to Romano. His recent post on social media stated plainly: “Nicolas Jackson and Chelsea, it’s over.” With multiple Premier League clubs circling, the striker’s future could be decided quickly once the Richarlison situation unfolds at Tottenham.
