Tottenham Set for Major Reshuffle as Richarlison Nears Exit and Romero Edges Toward Atletico Move

Tottenham Hotspur look poised for a transformative summer, with two high-profile exits potentially paving the way for Thomas Frank’s new era in North London. As Spurs push ahead in their pursuit of West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, it appears Richarlison is the first major casualty of the club’s reshaping project, while Cristian Romero could soon be bound for La Liga.

After a turbulent 2024/25 campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th in the Premier League, their Europa League triumph offered a silver lining. Not only did it end the club’s long trophy drought, but it also secured a place in next season’s Champions League, injecting fresh optimism and bolstering their summer transfer budget.

The club’s ambitions are already evident. Spurs have invested close to £60 million in new signings, and with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank now at the helm, there’s a clear intent to rebuild from top to bottom. One of the headline targets is Kudus, a dynamic attacker admired across Europe for his versatility, technique, and goal threat.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Kudus has already given the green light to a move, with talks between Spurs and West Ham progressing. Kudus’ potential arrival would significantly reshape Tottenham’s attacking setup—and it could spell the end for Richarlison.

Once a marquee signing, Richarlison has struggled to live up to expectations at Spurs. Plagued by injuries and inconsistency, the Brazilian has slipped down the pecking order and, according to Football Insider, is now “ready to leave” the club if Kudus is brought in. Sources close to the club suggest that Richarlison would be “sacrificed” to make room for the Ghanaian international, though final decisions will hinge on Frank’s assessment during pre-season.

The club could also lose one of its most important defenders. Reports from Spain indicate that Cristian Romero is edging closer to a £43 million move to Atletico Madrid. The World Cup winner reportedly turned down Tottenham’s latest contract offer and is now actively working on a deal to return to Spain, where his aggressive defensive style and pedigree have drawn strong interest from Diego Simeone’s side.

Romero’s exit, if finalized, would be a significant blow for Spurs’ back line. The Argentine has been a rare bright spot during difficult stretches and losing both Romero and Richarlison in the same window would leave Frank with serious gaps to fill, especially if Tottenham are to compete on both domestic and European fronts next season.

The moves highlight a club in transition—shedding underperforming stars, welcoming new leadership, and aiming to build a squad that matches Frank’s high-intensity, modern style of play. The next few weeks could define the trajectory of Tottenham’s rebuild, and with Kudus pushing for the move, the first domino may be ready to fall.
