Arsenal are making serious moves in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta aims to reshape his squad following a frustrating 2024/25 campaign. With multiple signings already confirmed, the Gunners are now on the verge of securing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres — and two more key deals are expected to follow.
Arsenal Shift Gears After Slow Start to Summer
After a third straight Premier League runner-up finish and another trophyless season, Arsenal entered the summer with clear ambitions to reinforce their squad — particularly in attack. Despite a quiet beginning to the window, things have quickly gathered pace in recent weeks.
The Gunners have already announced the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Christian Nørgaard, strengthening their midfield and goalkeeping options. However, the spotlight now turns to the front line.
Gyökeres Deal Nearing Completion
The biggest development so far centers around Viktor Gyökeres, Arsenal’s top striker target. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting CP are now “getting closer” to a full agreement.
Romano reports that Arsenal are prepared to raise their offer to €70 million plus €10 million in add-ons — a figure that aligns with Sporting’s valuation. Notably, Gyökeres is said to have been keen on a move to North London throughout talks, further accelerating the process.
Madueke and Eze Also on Arsenal’s Radar
In addition to Gyökeres, Arsenal are pushing to bolster their attack with Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze. Madueke, currently with Chelsea, is reportedly set for a medical after the clubs agreed on terms for his transfer.
Meanwhile, discussions over a move for Crystal Palace’s Eze are also advancing. The versatile attacking midfielder has long been admired by Arteta and is viewed as a player who could add both flair and creativity to Arsenal’s setup.
Mosquera and Nwaneri: The Next Two Priorities
With the Gyökeres deal nearing the finish line, Arsenal are now shifting focus to two more crucial signings:
- Christian Mosquera: The young Valencia center-back is expected to be the next arrival. Romano notes that Mosquera is fully on board with Arsenal’s project, and talks with the Spanish club are set to move forward in the coming week.
- Ethan Nwaneri: Arsenal are also working hard to secure the long-term future of teenage prodigy Ethan Nwaneri, who has just one year left on his current deal. According to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, a formal offer for a new five-year contract — or a four-year deal with a one-year option — is imminent. All parties are reportedly hopeful that a deal will be finalized soon.
Arteta’s Vision Taking Shape
Mikel Arteta is clearly focused on building a more balanced and dynamic squad ahead of the 2025/26 season. With significant reinforcements in midfield, goalkeeping, and soon in attack, Arsenal are looking to finally break their cycle of near-misses and mount a serious title challenge.
