Chelsea’s Midfield Exodus Gains Momentum with Dewsbury-Hall Exit

Chelsea are pressing forward with their summer shake-up, and the midfield department is next in line. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is set to leave Stamford Bridge in a £25 million deal to Everton. The move is part of a wider midfield clearout, with Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka also expected to depart in the coming days.

The Blues have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs this transfer window, balancing high-profile signings with calculated outgoings. And with three midfielders now packing their bags, Chelsea appear to be clearing space for further reinforcements.

Dewsbury-Hall Seals Everton Move in £25M Deal

Everton’s interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been bubbling under the surface for several weeks, but the deal accelerated rapidly. Romano delivered his signature “here we go” on the move, confirming a £25 million fixed fee, with potential add-ons pushing the total to around £28–29 million.

The 25-year-old only joined Chelsea from Leicester City earlier this summer, but with fierce competition in midfield, Everton saw an opportunity to make a swift move. The Toffees now add a dynamic and industrious midfielder to Sean Dyche’s setup—someone who can both anchor the midfield and contribute in attack.

Chukwuemeka Close to Dortmund Switch

Carney Chukwuemeka’s time at Chelsea also appears to be drawing to a close. Romano reported that Borussia Dortmund have reactivated negotiations with the Blues, following a loan spell for Chukwuemeka last season. Chelsea have made it clear they are only interested in a permanent deal, and talks have reportedly advanced in that direction.

At 20, Chukwuemeka still carries high potential, but limited first-team opportunities at Chelsea have prompted him to seek a fresh start in Germany, where he’ll likely be given a more prominent role in a youth-friendly Dortmund squad.

Burnley Set to Land Ugochukwu

Lesley Ugochukwu is another name heading toward the exit door. Burnley have reached an agreement with Chelsea and granted the midfielder permission to undergo a medical at Turf Moor. Although the fee has not been publicly disclosed, multiple outlets confirm the deal is on track to be finalized imminently.

Ugochukwu, just 20 years old, struggled for consistent minutes under Mauricio Pochettino last season and will hope to get his development back on track under Vincent Kompany’s guidance.

Chelsea’s Midfield Depth Remains Strong

Despite losing three central midfielders in a short span, Chelsea still boast one of the Premier League’s deepest midfield units. With Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos, and recent signing Dario Essugo in the ranks—not to mention Cole Palmer in a more advanced role—the Blues have ample cover.

The departures are expected to help balance the books after a summer of big spending. Chelsea remain linked with further signings, including high-profile targets like Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho, indicating that the squad rebuild is far from over.
