Hammarby turned up the pressure on league leaders Mjällby with a dramatic 2-1 victory over AIK in the Stockholm derby, ensuring the Allsvenskan title race remains alive—at least for another day. While Mjällby remain in the driving seat, Hammarby’s win keeps their slim title hopes intact and delays what could be a historic crowning moment for the Hallevik club.

Hammarby Keep Title Hopes Flickering with Derby Triumph

The atmosphere was electric at Tele2 Arena as Hammarby hosted city rivals AIK in a match with massive implications at both ends of the table. With just five minutes remaining in the first half, the home side found their breakthrough. Montader Madjed whipped in a teasing cross that captain Nahir Besara expertly redirected into the bottom corner, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Hammarby doubled their advantage shortly before the hour mark through a lightning-fast transition. After winning the ball near midfield, Adrian Lahdo surged forward and laid it off to Madjed, who rifled a low strike past AIK keeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt at the near post.

AIK pulled one back in the 80th minute when Aron Csongvai bent in a stunning 25-yard free-kick, but it was too little, too late. Hammarby held firm, clinching a vital three points that temporarily narrows Mjällby’s lead to eight with three matches to play. Only a win against IFK Göteborg on Monday will now be enough for Mjällby to seal their first-ever Allsvenskan crown.

GAIS End Djurgården’s Unbeaten Run in Five-Goal Thriller

Over in Gothenburg, GAIS dealt a major blow to Djurgården’s title ambitions with a thrilling 3-2 win that extended their own unbeaten streak to four matches. Ibrahim Diabate opened the scoring with a composed finish after 15 minutes, before Amin Boudri doubled the lead with a sensational solo run and chip eight minutes later.

Djurgården clawed one back through August Priske, but GAIS responded just before the hour mark with Robin Frej nodding home from close range. Mikael Anderson’s emphatic finish in the 70th minute set up a tense finale, but GAIS held on, moving four points clear of fifth-placed AIK and bolstering their European qualification hopes.

Elfsborg Smash Öster to Snap Winless Run

Elfsborg rediscovered their attacking spark with a dominant 5-1 win over relegation-threatened Öster. Despite conceding early to Oscar Uddenas, the Borås side responded emphatically with two goals from Taylor Silverholt, followed by second-half strikes from Arber Zeneli and Ibrahim Buhari. Per Frick added a late fifth to complete the rout, securing a much-needed morale boost for Elfsborg, who remain in eighth place.

For Öster, the heavy defeat keeps them stuck in the relegation playoff spot, three points behind Halmstad.

Värnamo’s Fight for Survival Lives On

Värnamo’s bid to avoid the drop took another twist in a dramatic 1-1 draw against Brommapojkarna. Victor Lind’s late header for BP looked set to confirm Värnamo’s relegation, but Marcus Antonsson’s 90th-minute equaliser kept their slim hopes alive. Still eight points adrift of Öster with three matches remaining, Värnamo need nothing short of a miracle—and help from other results—to escape the drop.

Malmö Climb to Fourth with Comfortable Win

Malmö FF continued their late-season revival under interim coach Anes Mravac with a 2-0 home win over Norrköping. Emmanuel Ekong opened the scoring in the first half, and Hugo Bolin sealed the result after the break. The victory lifts Malmö to fourth place, just three points behind GAIS, as they eye a return to European football.

Norrköping, meanwhile, find themselves in trouble after a third consecutive defeat leaves them just four points above the relegation playoff zone.

Hacken and Sirius Share the Spoils

Saturday’s clash between Hacken and Sirius ended 1-1, a result that slightly eases both teams’ relegation worries. Mikkel Rygaard gave Hacken an early lead, but Isak Bjerkebo equalised for Sirius just before halftime. With both sides still looking over their shoulders, the point could prove valuable as the season winds down.
