In a move that has MLS fans buzzing, South Korean star Son Heung-Min is set to reunite with his longtime Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris at LAFC. As the club prepares to welcome one of Asia’s most celebrated footballers, Lloris has expressed his excitement about linking up with Son once again—this time on American soil.

A Familiar Bond Rekindled in Los Angeles

Son Heung-Min’s arrival at Los Angeles FC marks a significant new chapter in his career, bringing him back alongside Hugo Lloris, the veteran French goalkeeper with whom he shared nearly a decade at Tottenham Hotspur. Speaking ahead of Son’s MLS debut, Lloris couldn’t hide his enthusiasm.

“It’s amazing to be together again,” Lloris said in a press conference on Friday. “It’s a new chapter with a different jersey, but the same ambition and the same motivation.”

From North London to the West Coast

Both Son and Lloris were cornerstones of Spurs during a transformative era for the club. While Lloris captained Tottenham for years, Son took over the armband in the final stages of his tenure. Son’s move to LAFC follows a decade-long stint in the Premier League, where he became one of the league’s most respected and admired players.

“He spent 10 years at Spurs and did everything he could,” Lloris reflected. “He won the Europa League last season, reached incredible stats, and built a global image. It makes sense that, at this stage of his career, he’s looking for a new challenge.”

A Major Boost for MLS and LAFC

Lloris emphasized the broader impact of Son’s arrival—not just for LAFC, but for the entire MLS landscape. The 38-year-old World Cup winner highlighted Son’s leadership qualities and the influence he can have on and off the pitch.

“For the league, for the city, for our club, it’s fantastic,” said Lloris. “He’s a true professional, someone younger players can learn a lot from. I fully expect him to have a major impact here.”

What This Means for LAFC

Bringing in a player of Son’s caliber underlines LAFC’s ambition to remain a dominant force in Major League Soccer. His chemistry with Lloris, forged over years of top-level competition, could prove vital as the team pushes for silverware.

The reunion also adds another layer of star power to MLS, continuing the league’s trend of attracting global icons looking for new challenges in the latter stages of their careers.
