Mohamed Salah Surprises with Admission: Arsenal ‘Favourites’ for Premier League Title

Despite Liverpool’s thrilling opening win, Mohamed Salah has named Arsenal as the ‘favourites’ to win the Premier League title, citing their strengthened squad and consistency. Can the Reds defend their crown?

Salah Surprises with Title Admission: Arsenal are ‘Favourites’ for Premier League
In a surprising twist, Mohamed Salah has admitted that Arsenal are the favourites for the 2025-26 Premier League title despite Liverpool securing a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their season opener. The Egyptian forward, who was named the PFA Player of the Year for a third time, praised Arsenal for their squad stability and summer investments, openly acknowledging their strong chances of dethroning Liverpool.

Salah’s Honest Assessment
At the PFA awards, Salah shared his thoughts on the title race when speaking with presenter Cecil Thomas, an Arsenal supporter. “I think you have a great team this season, as you did last season. So, you have a really good chance. I think you are the favourite now because you have players who have been together for five years,” Salah said, before adding with a grin, “I can’t say I’ll wish you luck – hopefully we do it again.”

Arsenal’s Strong Push for the Title
After finishing as runners-up last season, Arsenal have made significant strides in the transfer market, investing close to £200 million to bolster their squad. The addition of Viktor Gyokeres is expected to add firepower to an already dynamic lineup, making them one of the leading contenders for the Premier League title this season. With Mikel Arteta having nurtured a cohesive and talented squad, Arsenal will be aiming to secure their first league title since the 2003-04 Invincible season.

Salah’s Remarkable Individual Season
While acknowledging Arsenal’s strength, Salah remains a key figure for Liverpool. The 33-year-old forward’s stunning performances last season earned him the prestigious PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for a third time. His tally of 29 goals and 18 assists was instrumental in Liverpool’s push for the title, and he will be crucial to their hopes of retaining the crown.

Liverpool’s Response and Early Challenges
Despite Salah’s support for Arsenal, Liverpool are not giving up their ambitions. They will aim to build on their strong start with an upcoming **Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Monday. A week later, they face Arsenal in what promises to be a pivotal early-season showdown at Anfield. This clash could have significant ramifications for the title race, with both teams desperate to stake their claim as the dominant force in English football.

What’s Next for Liverpool and Arsenal?
For Liverpool, Salah’s admission signals a healthy level of respect for their competitors, but they will look to use this challenge as motivation. With a blockbuster match against Arsenal on the horizon, both teams will be eager to secure three crucial points in their early bid for the title. Arsenal, with a revamped squad and newfound confidence, are ready to prove they can challenge for the crown once more.
