A sea of mourners has gathered outside the church in Gondomar, Portugal, as the emotional funeral of Diogo Jota continues. The football world has united to pay tribute to the Liverpool star, who tragically passed away. Former teammates, including Jordan Henderson, have arrived to offer their respects, as the community comes together to say a final goodbye.
Among the mourners are Fábio and Rafaela, who travelled from the nearby town of Lordelo to be part of this significant moment. As avid football fans, their connection to Jota runs deep. Rafaela, a Porto FC supporter, and Fábio, a fan of Passos, where Jota began his professional career, stood outside the church, much like hundreds of others, to pay their respects.
Wearing a Jota shirt, Fábio reflected on the importance of being present for what he called “Jota’s final day”. Rafaela agreed, emphasizing how important it was for both the local community and the football world at large to come together in this moment of mourning.
“This is an example that you need to live life to the max,” Rafaela shared. “Because you never know when your last day will be.”
