Chelsea star Cole Palmer and Connie Grace are at the centre of split rumours after unfollowing each other on Instagram. Grace has dismissed claims she proposed to Palmer, calling the reports false and attention-seeking.
Connie Grace has shut down swirling rumours claiming she proposed to Chelsea and England star Cole Palmer before their alleged breakup, calling the story a fabrication born out of social media attention-seeking.
The influencer took to Instagram with a blunt rebuttal, posting: “Don’t believe everything you read online. The lies that people post to get views/likes is so sad! No, I have never proposed a marriage lol.” She also revealed she’s been on the receiving end of online abuse since the speculation took off.
Palmer and Grace had gone public with their relationship in late 2024, appearing together at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. The pair had known each other since the age of 17, and in Amazon Prime’s England’s Lions: A New Generation, Grace affectionately described Palmer as “warm and cuddly,” praising his humility despite his rise to football stardom. “He’s still the same Cole I met at 17… laid-back, not bothered about fame,” she said in the documentary.
But things appear to have changed behind the scenes. The pair recently unfollowed each other on Instagram, fueling whispers of a split. It’s the kind of digital breadcrumb trail that modern relationships, especially those involving public figures, struggle to keep private.
Palmer himself hinted at personal struggles after scoring in Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup win over Palmeiras. Speaking post-match, he pointed to his connection with teammate Tosin Adarabioyo, saying:
I’ve had a difficult time these past whatever months on and off the pitch, but he’s always been there for me.
Though he didn’t mention Grace, the timing of that comment raised eyebrows.
Neither party has formally confirmed a breakup, but the online disconnect and Palmer’s cryptic remarks have done little to quiet the speculation. For now, Palmer is enjoying a brief off-season break following Chelsea’s Club World Cup triumph. He’ll return for pre-season with Champions League football ahead and a pivotal role under Enzo Maresca.
In the social media age, the lines between private and public are thinner than ever—and for players like Palmer, what’s said off the pitch can sometimes resonate just as loudly as what’s done on it.
